Hi there, everyone. This isn’t Lynda, but her Husband, Mark. Lynda wanted me to go ahead and make a post to let you all know that Elias was born! She is going to write a big long entry with lots of details later on, but I’ll give a quick summary of the events over the past 50 or so hours.
We went to the hospital, they had to use ripening agents, then pitocin. After 35 or so hours of not dilating more than 3.5cm, Lynda decided to have an epidural. She had endured pretty painful contractions for HOURS, but the pain was getting to be too much. After a couple of hours on the epidural, I went to get food for Lynda’s mom and myself. Lynda was FINALLY sleeping soundly when I left. As I was pulling back into the hospital, Judy (Lynda’s mom) called my cell and said I needed to get back immediately.
I rushed back up to the room to find it full of nurses and midwives and Judy told me they needed to do a Cesarean. I immediately freaked out and went to Lynda’s side. She held my hand and told me everything was ok. Elias’s heat beat had gone way down and they needed to act fast. Within 3 or 4 minutes, Lynda was rolled out of the room. They told me that if they were able to keep her awake, I would be able to come back to the OR. Otherwise no one would be allowed in the room. Luckily, she was able to stay awake. I was brought some scrubs and was rushed back to the OR. About 3 minutes after I sat down next to Lynda, the anesthesiologist tapped me on the shoulder and told me to stand up and look over the divider in front of us. I looked over just in time to see them pulling my son out of my wife’s belly.
Hearing him cry was the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. Lynda was fine and was still being amazingly strong. They worked on Elias for awhile and finally brought him over to us. We both adored him and cried and just stared in awe at this perfect creature we had created together. He’s so beautiful we can’t believe it.
Well, I’ll leave the rest of the story to Lynda to tell when she gets back. Because of the C-Section, she will probably be in the hospital until Thursday. I’m sure she will make a post shortly after she gets home.
Thank you all for your words of support and encouragement. The last few days have been really rough and we’re glad this part is over. Have a great day/night/whatever.

Congratulations Lynda and Mark!!
He is precious! Who do you think he looks like?
I know that you didn’t get the perfect experience you were looking for either, but I hope that you did get one that is everything you needed it to be. As I learned the hard way, I can’t make things go the way I wanted them to, then or now.
T (and I) should be released from the hospital today if all goes well. (we’ve been here since Saturday night) She’s doing really well.
I know that you guys will be settling in and getting to know each other. Best wishes to you and take care of yourself. I can’t wait to hear about everything from your perspective.
Congratulations.
Oh Lynda and Mark! Congratulations! He’s so cute. I’m glad you’re all healthy and well! Welcome to the crazy adventure of parenthood! Thank you, Mark, for letting us know.
And Lynda, I’m so sorry to hear it was so painful and rough for you. I know I grieved for a long time the loss of the homebirth I’d hoped for, and I know a lot of women have similar feelings of loss after a c-section. If you’re feeling hurt or sad about how it happened, don’t let people ridicule you for your feelings. Birth is about the mother, too, and I’m sorry you had such a traumatic experience.
You are so strong, Lynda, and you have done a beautiful thing. Well done. What a beautiful little boy. Congratulations and the best of luck on your journey! Much warmth to all of you! I’m very happy for you. Heal swiftly!
