Oh, Bananas

We’re huge fans of bananas around here. We buy several bunches a week. We all like them and Elias has eaten one daily since he was one.

This morning I went to hang a bunch of bananas onto the banana tree and, well…

06-30-10 - Something's Missing [180/365]

The bananas just all fell off the stems. I’m not sure that’s ever happened to me before. I put them in a green bag; I’m not sure what else could possibly save them. I’d hate to forfeit the whole bunch, but maybe this is the Universe’s way of telling me some banana bread needs to be baking in my oven.

This post was inspired by Color Splash Sunday @ Artistically Amy. It’s late, but fits in well with their last theme, How People Enjoy Food.

My Broken Heart Can’t Shoot

02-20-10 On a Walk 04 [51/365]

Mark and Noah 5 days before he left. Before then, Mark hadn’t been separated from Noah for more than a couple hours.

It’s over half a year into project 365 and I can’t believe I’m still going! Okay, to be fair, I missed about two months right before, during and after our move to Texas in March. I had intended to keep up with the project during that time, but Mark left Georgia three weeks before we did and I was heartbroken without him. We’d been together for ten years and not apart more than a week during all that time. It was depressing to be in my home, seeing my kids not be able to hug him or smile at him. Not being able to see him interact with them. I wasn’t expecting to miss that. I knew I would miss Mark and I knew Mark would miss the kids. I had no idea I would get into such a funk because I couldn’t see them together.

I’d taken photos every day faithfully up to and including the day he left. It’s not surprising my only photo on our last day together was of food. I made the four of us French Toast Waffles in the morning (which are the exact same thing as regular french toast, but pressed in a waffle maker). It turned out a bit hard because the bread I used was too thin.

Photoshop Workflow Tips

These tips are specific to Photoshop CS3. Usually things don’t change too much across versions, but I welcome comments if it works differently in another version.

I’ve spent a lot of time this week just organizing my PhotoShop settings so that it doesn’t take an eternity for me to edit pictures. These tips helped me make the most out of my Photoshop configuration.

This shot took maybe 3 minutes to edit. I applied Photo Flavor’s Classic Cherry Cobbler and used a layer mask to erase the effect from the eyes.
