A Typical Weekend

I’ve had such a relaxing weekend with my boys! We never really do much of anything but play, watch TV, cook or do arts & crafts though they can make any activity lively.

Shooting in manual mode is ever challenging. I’m obsessed with getting the exposure correct straight out of the camera now and I’m disappointed when I open the file in ACR if I have to adjust the exposure at all. I guess this is a good thing.

01-22-11 - Block Triptych

For Christmas, Boa got this Little People Wagon & Block set, which both he and Mr. Serious love. Lately, Boa’s been counting while he stacks the blocks up (or anything else). He doesn’t actually say the numbers, but “Um. Doo. Doh. Dah.” as if they were numbers.

01-22-11 - Handy Manny

We don’t watch a lot of Handy Manny around here, but for Christmas, Mr. Serious got a Handy Manny doll with mini tools and Leap Frog Tag book, plus my mom got him a set of bigger Handy Manny tools as well. They’re super cute and the boys love pairing up the “mommy” and “baby” versions.

01-23-11 - Fallen Airplane01-23-11 - Paper Airplane

This morning after breakfast, Mr. Serious found the paper airplane kit his aunt got him for Christmas, so we took it outside and I folded a few airplanes for him. Surprisingly, Boa wasn’t very interested in the paper airplanes! I thought for sure he’d immediately want to destroy them. Mr. Serious may be too young for folding the planes, but he did enjoy flying them.

When we went inside, we did a few arts and crafts and Mark made everyone a smoothie. It was a lot of fun!

01-23-11 - Blue in Window Light

50mm lens. f/8.0 – ISO 400 – 1/80s.

Mr. Serious arranged his Blue and Magenta dolls right in front of the back door where a beautiful soft light was bouncing all over the place. I just had to take a photo! I wish I could say this is SOOC, but it was very slightly underexposed and I corrected for that in ACR. I also added a high pass filter, soft light mode around 60% (serioiusly LOVE that trick!) and sharpened in Photoshop.

I’ve had a lot of fun this weekend taking pictures. I regret my decision not to participate in Project 365 this year as it seems everyone else is doing it! Where were all you last year when I was participating! I’ve technically been doing project 52, but I feel it really should have a theme. I’m waivering back and forth between B&W or self-portraits. Maybe both!
