We used to jump on our couches and I don't see any harm in it. Of course, my husband would probably shoot me if I do that with our kids (but he's anal like that). You mentioned that you used your flash but it doesn't look harsh so you've used it well. Nice work.

LOVE the seventies feel of the first shot! Every kid needs to be able to jump on the couch (or bed) at some point in his life. :)

I try not to use flash unless it's absolutely necessary. More often than not, though, it's an issue with me holding the camera still. My fingers jitter and the camera shakes. :(

I'm not a fan of on board flashes - but there is a device you can get that is under $30 called a light scoop - http://www.lightscoop.com/ - one of my friends uses it with her rebel and it is a great and cheap way to diffuse the light. :)

I will be sure to post the fireworks next week. A really easy plant for indoors are spider plants. And they produce babies so you can keep creating new planters. And the best thing is that they help clean the air inside your house.

Thank you so much for visiting and commenting Patty! I am also in awe of your green thumb! I'm surprised we've been able to even keep a plant alive.

I can't wait to see the results of your trials! Hope you post them!

Desert Greetings my fellow SITStah,

Like many photogs I avoid using Flash whenever possible. I will admit to using it last week though when my son and his friend were swimming at night. Thanks to the flash I was able to capture a few great shots.
Professional though, I prefer to use natural lighting whenever possible.
And I love roses. Whenever you need some help, give me a holler. I have grown roses from clippings trashed at the Rose Parade.
This weekend I will be trying out a new technique for photographing Fireworks that was in Popular Photography magazine.
Have a wonderfully safe holiday.

Flash - boo! Although, I do think I should be using more outside for filling rather than relying on Photoshop to fix it later.

The roses are lovely!

Most of the time you can set your flash level too so it doesn't flash as bright, or flashes brighter.

I've just found that 99% of the time it's not worth bothering with on-camera flash.

Thank you so much for pointing out my home page was redirecting to the textures page! My redirection plugin has a bug that does that and I totally forgot about it when I published that page last night!

When I bought my 7D I thought that one of the bonuses was to have the occasional use of onboard flash. I don't know what it is that I do wrong but I'm yet to have a good result, usually getting something out of focus and well under exposed. I far prefer my speedlite with a demb flash diffuser. I guess it's about figuring out what you can work with and what you like.
