I Heart Faces: Fix it Friday #62

It’s such a fun I Heart Faces Fix-it-Friday this week! We get to edit this photograph of a beautiful and happy little girl taken last week by Amy Locurto.

Fix-It Friday #62

I feel I’ve been doing too many different edits which all look basically the same, so this week I will stick to just one edit! Here’s what I did:

  1. Cropped the image to focus more on the girl and get her out of the center of the photograph.
  2. Ran MCP Actions’ Magical Clarity. I do this as the first step in about 98% of my photos.
  3. Ran PW’s Warmer at about 80% 48% opacity.
  4. Ran MCP Actions’ Magic Midtone Lifter to lighten her skin
  5. Ran MCP Actions’ Magic Recovery to get back some of the color and detail in the grass.
  6. Ran MCP Actions’ Grass is Greener Illusion to get rid of the bare and brown spots in the grass.
  7. Added Kaleidoscope Gallery Collection Golden Sun Glow in a 45% Overlay layer and applied it JUST to her hair to highlight it.
  8. Added Kaleidoscope Gallery Collection Dirty Watercolor 3 in a 93% 53% Soft Light layer and mostly removed the effect from her skin.
  9. Ran MCP Actions’ High Definition Sharpening to finish it off. I do this as the last step to most of my photos. It’s a great action and free over at MCP’s site!

Update! I made some edits based on the feedback of Wowza below. Here’s the first edit he commented on. Hopefully she looks less jaundicey now..

Here’s the final result! Mouseover the image to see it compared to the unedited (but cropped) original!

Wow, says The Wowza. Holy jaundice and edge artifacts.

I love feedback, but you don’t have to be a dick about it, you know?

I’ll tinker around to correct the jaundice-like effect and I’ll Google “edge artifacts” to see what you’re referencing.

      Thanks for your comment!

Hi there, just wanted to say your play looks great! You commented on my personal blog about the price of an action being too high and I agree, so I lowered it. Anyways, I hope your day is going great, and ignore that Wow poster… really, don’t people have more things to do then be a jerk to others they don’t know?!

  4. You did a fantastic job with my little girl! Thanks:-)

  5. Great fix.

Don’t worry about the above comment. There seems to be a trouble maker running around trying to make people feel bad about their efforts today – or apparently they didn’t get the memo that this is all in fun.

Favorite part of this edit is how you highlighted and made her hair stand out. It was the first thing I noticed. Nice edit. (BTW thanks for stopping by) :)
