Welcome to another edition of Friday Finds! This is my weekly round-up of all the great photography and photo editing articles read throughout the week. I subscribe to over 100 related sites and read just about everything published by all of them. If you’re struggling to keep up with the sites you love, it’s probably time to get a feed reader and optimize it to its full potential! If you missed my article yesterday, please check out, Managing Your RSS Feeds with Google Reader and Feedly!
This week’s photographic theme is Wide Angle. I searched through Flickr’s photos licensed through Creative Commons find great examples to share with you. It was challenging to find photographs I felt truly exhibited the full potential of wide angle instead of just picking photos that just so happened to be shot using a wide angle lens. I would like to give you the opportunity to submit photographs to be used for next week’s Friday Finds. Next week’s theme is Camera Phone Shots! Please visit the Friday Finds page for more details on entering!
Composition: A Note on Subject Placement. This article discusses the “Rule of Thirds” and the “Diagonals Method” of composition. I’ve never heard of the latter before, but it is a simple formula. I’m definitely going to try some compositions using the diagonals method!
Want to Make a Better Photograph? Do it Again. I love learning from past mistakes so when I get a chance to go back and take the shot over again, I’m ecstatic. It’s surprising to me that not all photographers live by this! I’ll frequently take photographs on my cell phone or point and shoot when I don’t have the SLR with me for the exact purpose of going back and shooting it over again.
Professional Fashion Photo Results with an iPhone 3GS. This is a great video and perfect for next week’s theme of Camera Phone Shots. A professional photographer does a fashion photo shoot using only an iPhone 3GS because he’s tired of hearing people complain about being limited by their camera. You don’t need a DSLR to take great photographs! Feel free to send this on to anyone who tells you that your camera takes great photos.
Fool Proof Photoshop Airbrushing for Dummies. There are tons of actions (some even free) which focus on airbrushing, or smoothing out the skin. If you want to learn how to do this on your own, without the actions, this is a great tutorial!
Please check out my Wide Angle Shots Flickr Gallery for all 18 photographs selected this week! If you’re interested in submitting a photograph to be featured on next week’s Friday Finds with the theme Camera Phone Shots, please visit my Friday Finds page or visit the Friday Finds Flickr Group for more details.
