Thanks for this post and tips. It was very interesting, comments and answers too. I like textures but it's not easy to use them well.

Hello from BF and the 31 day challenge! I was underneath you in todays challenge and so here I am to give some feedback... And I'm finding this totally ironic since JUST before posting I had responded to your discussion about pitch tips. And to top it all off learning about photo editing is one of my goals for this year, so... I feel like I just hit the jackpot here! (And am a new subscriber:) Anyway, down to business! I think this is a great post - very easy to follow and I love how the photos broke up the text (duh - photography blog). I also like that you had two lists - the second one built on the first and kept both of them shorter, which helps to not overwhelm the reader. Well done. You also did a great job ending your post - leaving us wanting more with a teaser for what's coming next AND a call to action (leave the before and after in the linky). Great example of a list post Lydia!!

Thanks Leslie! I'm sure I've applied some that are distracting, but it's definitely my goal to enhance the photo with textures, not have them take over. :)

I haven't ever used textures - mainly because I haven't taken the time to learn how. But, wow, do I like what you've done here. Sometimes I think they add interest to a photo, and sometimes I think they just detract from one. However, you've made them interesting and not distracting. Great job!

Awesome! Thanks! I've used photoshop before, but I can navigate PSP a lot better since that's basically the only program I've used since I was... twelve? When I discovered that I could *gasp* put words on images. (Haha, I thought I was so cool) But, that was thirteen years ago. O_O

I'm using an older version; when PSP was owned by JASC. I'm not sure when COREL took over, but I sure am envying the newest version. :-| I have version 9, so it's not really THAT old. I know Photoshop is a lot more popular than PSP, so there are usually more tutorials and resources for photoshop. I've found a handful of excellent sites, but sometimes I have to "translate" the photoshop tutorials/tips to PSP. They're different -- but... they do the same stuff. (I'm awful chatty today...)
