Mother’s Day Dinner [128/365]

On Saturday, Doug and Laura, Mark’s brother and sister-in-law, hosted a family cook-out in honor of Mother’s Day. Like the geniuses we are, we let Mr. Serious fill up on strawberries the size of small apples before dinner. So instead of taking a single bite of the plate prepared for him (chicken, macaroni and cheese and corn on the cob – a usual hit!), Mr. Serious ran all over the place. Mostly he was wandering back and forth from inside to the patio outside; but there were moments where he tried and succeeded in putting a sticker, which he’d pulled off the inside of someone’s baseball cap, on a door. And he stole grandma’s cane, refusing to give it back until someone offered him a walker which he referred to as, “my car”. I don’t think he did any lasting damage to anything, but it is nerve wracking to have him in others’ homes. He plays the role of the curious and charming toddler very well.

Boa stealing the dog toy.

Boa kept stealing the ball of Maggie, the Jack Russel Terrier. She was not too amused with this game when the baby refused to throw or otherwise relinquish the ball. She circled around him patiently waiting for his grip to slip or for him to tire of the toy. Later on, she got Boa back by stealing his tiny Sesame Street dolls. Teyla also loves taking the boys’ smaller stuffed animals for her own. Maggie is an adorable and well behaved dog.

Doug and Laura live on a beautiful property with some sort of golden colored flower growing in a field close by. I have a feeling I should probably know the name of this flower, but I have virtually no knowledge of the botanical world. I took Mr. Serious out there to get pictures and I did get some, but I wasn’t very happy with them overall. I need to get better at shooting in the sun. I rely on auto-focus a lot with the boys because they move quickly, but I was having problems getting the focus to actually grab Mr. Serious and not the flowers. The ones I did post (1, 2) were softened up during editing to detract from the fact that they aren’t completely in focus.
