I’m being sucked into Twitter and it’s making it hard for me to update over here.
We’ve transitioned Noah to cloth diapers because it’s cheaper than disposable and I had them laying around. He just recently got big enough to wear the BumGenius on the smallest “setting”, but after about two weeks, he’s outgrown all the small sized diapers I have except for the FuzziBunz (which I LOVE). I have some medium FuzziBunz in patterns which I don’t like as much as the cool solid colors I have in the small size, but Noah’s still too small for them. Cloth diaper laundry is a little annoying, but pretty easy overall. My biggest gripe is having to stuff pockets. I hate it.
I need to sell all my newborn sized diapers and prefolds and decide whether or not I want to get rid of the small sized diapers in case we have a third child. (Having two c-sections really throws a wrench into the thoughts of having a third some day.)
Elias is SUCH a helper. When he comes in at night, we take his shoes off and then he goes and puts them in the pile of shoes by the front door. He’ll throw something away or take something to the clothes hamper if you ask him. Last night, he spilled his juice all over the floor and Mark got a towel to put on the floor and showed him how to sop it up by pressing on it with his foot, then put the towel into the hamper. A little while later in the night, Elias picked up a prefold from the laundry basket and put it over the same spot, then stepped on it. SOOO cute.
His language is increasing exponentially! After his bath last night, he ran into the computer room and picked up a large joystick wanting to play with it (naked butt with a towel on his head). I told him we had to get him in his jammies first and he looked up at me, holding the joystick and said, “Mama, pea?” PULL ON MY HEARTSTRINGS WHY DON’T YOU!? We’ve been trying to get him to say “please” when he wants something, so I couldn’t just say no, but I also didn’t want to give in and let him do something I told him he couldn’t do a moment before. I let him hold onto it for a moment then told him to ask daddy later to play with it.
We’ve been watching Blue’s Clues and Jack’s Big Music Show and Elias LOVES it. He can now say “notebook”, “think”, “blue” and “clue” because of that show. Jack’s Big Music Show is great because of the amount of music and music videos in it. Great stuff! We have to keep the TV off most of the time now though because Elias is hard to communicate with if it’s on and we’re not actively watching something with him.
Over the past few months, he’s started to sing along with songs he knows and make up new songs. I don’t know whether or not it’s normal for his age, but I’m impressed. Both Mark and I are musical people and so far, Elias is showing a huge appreciation for all types of music. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.
On Tuesday, we’re all going to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History with the four of us and my mom. I am SO SO excited and cannot wait. I just learned the first weekend of the month is free for Bank of America card holders as well, so we might start going more often using that until we can afford a year-long membership.
I go back to work in a little more than a week with mixed feelings. Elias is going to stay in his daycare part time (looks like 2 days a week) for the activities and to spend time with his little friends, whom he really loves. There are no plans to put Noah into daycare at all, which is the only thing that is saving my sanity from going back to work at 10 weeks instead of 12. Mark had to go back to work with Elias when he was 2 weeks old, so I feel both he and Noah are lucky that we’ve all had this time together.
That’s about everything I can think of for now. For all my FL, I want you to know I am reading, though I’m not commenting nearly as much. It’s all but impossible to comment since I can’t get to a computer or laptop very often, but I can read posts. I’ve had a couple removals recently and I’m not sure if it’s due to my lack of commenting or my Twitter import posts which I’ve since stopped.
Hope all is well with y’all!
