Our friends in Texas (Mark’s best friend since middle school, Chris, and his wife Carrie) had a baby girl early this morning! We are so excited for them! Carrie was due on July 3 and was recently scheduled for an induction due to her raising blood pressure, but she went into labor naturally last night. Yay! We bought a Boppy and two covers for her earlier this week (when we thought it’d still get there before her induction) so I hope she gets it soon and can make use out of it! The Boppy was essential for both me and Mark for the first couple of months, so I hope they find it just as useful.
We’re super excited to go back to Texas to see the little newborn! (I think her name is Lynnde, but I cannot 100% recall. It was spelled a LOT like my name, but was not my name.) We’re glad that Chris and Carrie will have a few weeks with the baby so they’ll feel more comfortable with us visiting and spending some time with them. Mark and I are going to offer to watch the baby if they want to get out for a couple of hours or just take a nap. I don’t know if they’ll take us up on the offer, but I’m really excited about the possibility of holding another newborn and seeing Elias’ reaction!
We bought a few more books and two toys for Elias (Infantino Barn Shape Sorter and Sing-Along Activity Barn) which should be here tomorrow. Hopefully one of the two toys will be good for taking back to Texas with us. I know he doesn’t need a whole slew of toys, but I am so addicted to buying them for him. I have no idea where we’re going to put these. Maybe they’ll fit into the ottoman for storage. (Half the ottoman is dedicated to his toys and books.)
To my delight, Elias has been getting up a little later in the mornings. I’ve actually had to wake him up the past few mornings. This doesn’t give me a lot of extra time to get myself together before I start work and I’ve actually been “late” every day this week. In an effort to try to save myself some time, last night before bed I dressed Elias in a comfortable onesie and was going to just slap pants on him and call it an outfit for today. Naturally, it figures that I must not have diapered him properly because when I went to bed around 11pm I found he’d wet it. Doh! Mark helped me while I got him into a new diaper and clothes and put a fleece blanket over the wet spot on the bed. He remained asleep (if not a bit annoyed at parts) through the whole thing and we could tell he was so much more comfortable afterward.
He’s such a little doll baby. Every single minute, I’m so amazed by how much more I’ve grown to love him.
