I feel so flipping irresponsible. I completely forgot to pay rent, which is due by the 3rd. Now I have to pay something like an extra $120 plus who knows if Mark and I will be able to rent from anywhere else in the future.
How on earth could I have completely FORGOTTEN to pay rent!?
On top of that bad news, I think my company is now blocking Google Talk. That’s upsetting because Mark and I talk when we’re at work via Google Talk since he can’t access AIM from his work. Big sighs.
Stupid, horrible rotten day.

The three of us went rental house hunting over the weekend. I really loved the property we visited Sunday, but I doubt if we’ll be…
Yay! We have a place to live come the end of the month! YAYAYAYAYAY!

Wow. I hope tomorrow goes better for you.
Oh no, that sucks. Is there any way you can talk to them and see if they’ll waive the late fee?
Also, I’ve found that if your bank has an option for auto payments, that helps a lot. I even signed up for mycheckfree a long time ago to take care of utility bills so everything but the credit cards are auto-paid. MUCH less stressful!
Unfortunately, we forgot once before to pay the rent and had them waive the late fee on the condition that it would never happen again. That was probably over a year ago, but I’m afraid to ask.
Ouch
Been there, done that. *hugs*
As a former employee of a large rental company this is what they’ll do.
Suck it up and just pay the late fee. The less hassle you are to them the better your rental reference will be. Being late twice in two years is not a big deal to them.
Also, I’d include a little note of apology or something, like a few (6) post-dated cheques for upcoming months as a show of good faith. They’ll probably appreciate that and not think that you’re the tenants from hell.
Most rental companies are reasonable about late rent as long as you pay your rent in full plus additional late fees.
I’d call them and just ask. It’s only 1 day – if you’re always on time; I’m sure they’re good about it.
Also, no googletalk – try meebo.
